I’m Invited to God’s Family

Overview

Week 1 of the “I’m In” series centers on one truth: every person is invited into God’s family through Jesus. The video reviews Jesus’ open-armed welcome to a “sinful woman,” reminds group members of their own salvation stories, and challenges everyone to pray for and actively invite those still far from Christ.

Context

• This four-week LifeGroup series follows the weekend messages.
• Today’s clip supplies three discussion questions meant to spark honest conversation and prayer.

Main Points

1. Jesus’ Open Invitation

  • Jesus publicly declared, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
  • The sinful woman likely heard that invitation and, moved by hope, rushed to Jesus’ feet to worship.
  • Her story illustrates that no sin disqualifies a person from approaching Christ.

2. Remember Your Own Invitation

  • Every follower of Jesus had a moment—or several—when the truth about Him became real.
  • Discussion prompt: briefly share how and when you decided to follow Christ, or where you are on the journey if you have not yet believed.
    • Story: The speaker mentions college as his turning point, realizing “Jesus is the Son of God” and choosing to follow Him.

3. Describe the Change in One Word

  • After salvation, life is noticeably different.
  • Pick one word that captures what you first experienced (e.g., peace, freedom, joy, purpose).
    • Speaker’s example: He felt overwhelming peace as guilt lifted the moment he called on Jesus.

4. We Are Inviters, Not Just Attenders

  • Gathering with believers matters, but disciples still carry Jesus’ light into a dark world.
  • Jesus came “for the lost… for sinners… for the sick,” so His followers go after those same people.
  • Parable recap: A host planned a banquet; when the original guests refused, he sent servants to “compel” others so the house would be full.

5. Pray and Act for One Lost Person

  • Nearly everyone knows someone who is far from Christ.
  • Discussion prompt: Name the one person you are most burdened for, share as much or as little detail as is appropriate, and commit to pray for him or her.
  • Close your time by joining hands and praying together, believing God will draw these friends or family members and provide opportunities to invite them to church or Church Online.

Key Truths

  • Jesus invites weary, burdened sinners to come and find rest in Him.
  • No past sin or present struggle places anyone outside the reach of His grace.
  • Your salvation story is a powerful reminder of God’s faithfulness and a bridge to someone else’s faith.
  • A single word can testify to the radical change Jesus brings.
  • Christ’s followers are commissioned to seek, invite, and pray for the lost until God’s “house is full.”

Response

  • Recall and rehearse your own salvation moment this week.
  • Identify one word that captures how Jesus first changed you; share it with someone who needs hope.
  • Write the name of one non-believing friend where you will see it daily and pray for that person.
  • Look for a natural moment to invite that friend to church or to explore faith.
  • Keep gathering with believers while intentionally carrying Jesus’ light into everyday settings.

Closing

The session ends with an urgent yet hope-filled charge: don’t stop at enjoying fellowship—be the servant who goes out until every seat at the banquet is taken.

“Jesus didn’t come for those who are found. He came for those who are lost.”
