His Story Written on Our Hearts

Opening Moments

“In the beginning there were words… His pen was life, his paper the earth, his purpose, his love.”
The gathering opened with this poetic meditation on creation and the Word, echoing John 1:1-4 (“In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God. In him was life, and the life was the light of men.”). The tone was reverent, inviting everyone to see their own lives as paragraphs in God’s ongoing story.

Testimonies

Adam

• Life context
– Grew up chasing “instant gratification”—clubs, drinking, drugs. Began using so early that “there would be about 3 days a year that I wasn’t high on something.”
– Longed for relationship: “My heart’s empty. I need a little bit more than that.”

• Turning point & miracle
– In the middle of the emptiness he sensed God say, “Adam, you are perfect and you always will be. Now I’m going to use you and show you how much I’ve always loved you.”
– Peace flooded in: “He gave me so much peace that no one else could ever give me.”
– Began reading the Bible: “If I’m going to become better friends with somebody… I need to know their story.”

• Spiritual insights & emotions
– God’s love now “surpasses any question.”
– Overflow imagery: “It’s like filling up a glass of water. Eventually it’s going to overflow… You keep filling back up so you can pour out more.”
– Sense of calling: “He’s calling me to be a doer… to help others,” especially kids struggling as he once did.
– Hope for visible fruit: “I pray that people have seen the change within me… those weren’t things that I could do on my own.”

• Scripture referenced
– John 1:1-4 (quoted).
