Coffee-Run Conversation – “You Belong Before You Believe”

Testimonies

The Coffee-Run Couple

• Setting / life context
– In Stewart’s, ordering “six or seven” coffees and a hot-dog run for the tech team before that night’s big rehearsal in Life Church’s new building.
– Months of volunteering while construction crews and the sound company finished spaces and systems.

• Key turning points and miracles
– “We have been looking for a church … a place where we could really have a community and a home.”
– The first Sunday: “We walk in and I feel like I’m home.”
– Parking-lot welcome: “From the moment we drove in and saw that crazy guy helping us find a place to park … I was like, oh man.”
– Discovery of the church’s heartbeat: “You belong before you believe.” At first it sounded “corny,” now it’s language they own—“I feel like I use it in my vocabulary all the time … tattoo it on my forehead.”

• Spiritual insights and emotions expressed
– No one is disqualified by the past: “Knowing that everybody is someone else who has a story … you’re no different than anyone there.”
– Mission clarified: “Everything is training people to become fully devoted followers of Christ.”
– Joy in serving: racing coffees to the team so “they need some caffeine” for rehearsal.

Jen

• Setting / life context
– Riding along on the coffee pick-up; part of the same search for a church home for their kids.

• Spiritual insights and emotions expressed
– Immediate connection: “I think we felt the same way from the moment we drove in.”
– Amazed by unexpected friendships: “I get to do life with people I never thought I’d be friends with, but I’m all of a sudden really good friends with them.”

Leon (Tech Lead)

• Brief update in the sanctuary
– Checks DI boxes and cables: “How we looking? … This thing’s good to go.”
– Confidence for launch: “Rehearsal’s good—We’re ready for tomorrow night, come on!”

Holy-Spirit Highlights

• Radical welcome: the mantra “You belong before you believe” resonating deep in hearts.
• Unity through service: caffeine runs, sound checks, and construction work all framed as worship.
• Transformation of language: what once sounded “goofy” now shapes daily conversation and identity.

Prayer Points & Next Steps

• Strength and creativity for the tech and worship teams during final rehearsals.
• Continued growth of authentic community where every newcomer instantly feels, “I’m home.”
• That each volunteer task—from coffee to cables—draws people closer to becoming “fully devoted followers of Christ.”
